The Sandhurst Trust was formed in 2014 and supports the Officer Cadets under training at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst as well as the staff and their families.
It is one of the few service charities that is entirely self-funding. The Trust runs as a business using the spare capacity at Sandhurst to hold corporate conferences and away days, board meetings, dinners and other corporate and private functions as well providing guided tours of the historic site. We also hold reunions for our alumni with 40 in 2022 attended by over 1200 serving and retired officers. Of particular note was the 70th year reunion held in September and attended by eight spritely ninety-year-olds.
In 2022 our profits enabled us to provide charitable donations totalling £128,000, by far our best annual total. This was roughly split between leadership support grants and welfare grants – 2810 grants in total.
Our welfare support has included:
- Support to the families of our Ukrainian and Afghan cadets.
- Support to an instructor injured in a road accident.
- Support to the family of a junior soldier on the staff.
- Provision of an electric cart to ferry injured cadets to and from the Physio.
- Short notice compassionate flight for a UK cadet.
With almost a hundred outside events booked into the 2023 calendar we hope to improve on last year’s total. For further details see our website: www.sandhursttrust.org
