The skills and experience required to manage a project are common within the Forces and many individuals look to transition into a new career within Project Management when they leave, but what does project management look like in a civilian context? What are businesses looking for in their Project Managers? What qualifications do you need to be recognised as a Project Manager? This workshop will be the first of a series of career-focused workshops around the country to explore these questions about project management in more detail.
The workshop will start with an overview of project management within a business setting, including a review of qualifications, delivered by Ian Clarkson, Head of Project and Programme Management for QA. Ian is highly respected within his field and has extensive hands-on experience, and QA is a training provider which works closely with the MoD and other governmental departments as well as with a wide range of businesses.
A series of presentations will then follow, exploring how projects may vary between sectors. Project Managers will share their experiences within their areas of expertise and highlight key factors to consider when entering a particular field. Sectors represented on the day include the NHS and financial services, with more to follow.
