The Poppy Factory’s new Chief Executive, Deirdre Mills, started work at the disability employment charity last week.
Mrs Mills will be leading The Poppy Factory through its new 5-year strategy, working with staff and trustees to build towards a future where every workplace values wounded, injured and sick veterans.
The charity is close to Mrs Mills’ heart as she has served in the British Army herself and was recently a Director at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC), experiencing The Poppy Factory’s Getting You Back to Work programme first-hand when the CWGC employed a disabled veteran through the scheme.
“The work of The Poppy Factory really resonates. The charity has a rich history, a strong link with remembrance, and a solid plan to help our veterans today.” said Mrs Mills.
“I am looking forward to working with the team here to shape a modern organisation so that we can help even more wounded, injured and sick veterans back into work over the coming years.”
