Steven Price Brown first became known to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity in 2015, through a meeting with inspirational charity Turn to Starboard. Turn to Starboard is a registered charity based in Falmouth Marina in Cornwall, using sail training to support Armed Forces personnel affected by military operations. At the time of our first meeting, Steven was preparing to embark on the Charity’s inaugural Round Britain Challenge alongside a crew of fellow veterans, all of whom had been through unimaginably traumatic experiences while serving their country.
We featured Steven’s story in our June 2016 issue of FrontLine magazine (p.10-11), as well as last year’s Annual Review (p.8), as it perfectly captured how our breadth of support and careful distribution of funds to other military charities had helped him on his path to recovery. Steven served with the Grenadier Guards on an arduous tour of Afghanistan in 2012. His platoon suffered appalling losses and, as Advance Team Medic, he witnessed several horrific incidents.
