The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) has awarded noted philanthropist and friend of the charity, Sir Michael Hintze, the role of Senior Vice Patron.
This key ambassadorial role recognises Sir Michael’s extraordinary encouragement and support of the RNRMC over the last eight years, which has been invaluable as the Charity has established itself on the national scene.
Sir Michael Hintze’s leadership and example have been crucial in attracting philanthropic donations to assist the work of the charity. His loyalty, the momentum that his support has generated, and the generosity of the Hintze Family Foundation, has enabled the RNRMC in its mission to support sailors, marines and their families, for life.
With the full support of RNRMC President, Admiral Sir Jonathon Band, and Chairman, Bill Thomas, Sir Michael will assume his new role with immediate effect. Welcoming the announcement Bill Thomas said:
“The charity has no better friend than Sir Michael and we are delighted that he has accepted our invitation to serve.”
The charity was delighted to note the decision by the Royal Navy to confer on Sir Michael the honour of Special Friend of HMS Queen Elizabeth, the Royal Navy’s new aircraft carrier that arrived in Portsmouth recently. As she begins her long life at the heart of the Fleet so the Charity fits into the centre of the naval family.
Speaking about his new role, Sir Michael said:
“The RNRMC does great work and I feel immensely proud to have been offered this role in support of those who give so much to our nation. It is a privilege to be able to serve the men and women the RNRMC represents and I will do my very best to honour this great institution. There is much more to do.”
The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity is one of a number of charitable and philanthropic interests that Sir Michael Hintze supports. His commitment to his charitable efforts has led him to be considered one of the most “notable philanthropists” in the asset management industry and has been listed on the 2017 Debrett 500 List for his remarkable philanthropic activity. The Hintze Family Foundation has supported over 200 charities since its inception in 2005.
