Blind Veterans UK comment on corporate partner Monarch Airlines ceasing trading

Blind Veterans UK wishes to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the Monarch Foundation for their charity partnership over the last two years.

As well as supporting the charity by raising money through a number of events and on-flight collections, the airline and the charity teamed up to deliver ‘sighted guiding’ training into Monarch Airlines’ cabin crew training programme.

The training raised awareness of the difficulties faced by vision-impaired passengers when travelling and advised the crew how they could make travelling a better experience for blind customers. As an airline, they were committed to excelling in customer service to passengers with a disability.

Monarch and Blind Veterans UK delivered 23 training sessions for their cabin crew since the programme began in 2015. The airline also helped refer blind veterans to the charity so that they could receive our support.

In total, the Monarch Foundation helped raise more than £168,000 for Blind Veterans UK. This included over £51,000 through on-flight collections during the Remembrance period last year. The airline was due to run similar collections this November.

We would once again like to thank all the staff at Monarch, particularly the Monarch Foundation, for all their support.
