Fishing Breaks Help Veterans’ Recovery

Fishing

Recently The Not Forgotten Association hosted 10 beneficiaries on the second of this year’s three carp fishing breaks at Woodlay in Cornwall. The location is quiet and secluded, perfect for helping beneficiaries – especially those suffering with PTSD – to feel safe, comfortable and less stressed. Over the course of five days the group had the chance to relax properly and to get to know each other, sharing their stories and different experiences of service and injury. Beneficiaries tell us that the opportunity to socialise and bond with other veterans, to enjoy the camaraderie and banter, is the most important benefit of these breaks as they continue along the recovery pathway, although some do enjoy the fishing so much that they later take it up as a hobby.
