Earlier this year, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity provided a £50,000 grant to Care For Veterans (formerly Queen Alexandra Hospital Homes) who continually support disabled veterans.
First established in 1919, Care For Veterans provides excellent care and rehabilitation to ex-Servicemen and women who require full-time nursing, whilst enabling patients to live as independently as possible.
Care for Veterans’ range of rehabilitation programmes include; Speech Therapy, End of Life Care, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. They also provide specialist care for those with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).
The resident’s emotional well-being is at the forefront of their care programme. There are internal and external social and recreational activities and cognitive and behavioural therapy counselling. They constantly thrive to ensure the veterans are as comfortable as they would be in their own homes.
Care For Veterans accepts residents from the age of 18-years-old upwards and has in total, 60 beds for both permanent and short-term respite care.
