A manager is sought to oversee Launchpad’s Avondale House in Newcastle. Responsibilities include the 30 resident veterans, staff, the house infrastructure and services, in order to create an environment from which veterans can transit to civilian life successfully. Many of the veterans come from a homeless background and have complex needs, some come straight to us on leaving the Forces, but they are all assessed on entry to have the potential to be employed within 2 years. The manager overseas a full time staff of 3 or 4 and a part-time staff of 2, plus some volunteers and he or she works to a CEO and the trustees. Applicants MUST have experience of looking after people in a homeless or hostel environment and a military background is desirable.
Location: Avondale House, 50 Raby Way, Byker Estate, Newcastle, NE6 2FR.
Remuneration: Salary of £32,076 per annum (rising with experience), as well as a £100 per month contribution to the company pension plan.
Hours: Hours of work amount to 37.5 per week, but the Manager is expected to take out-of-hours actions to care for Avondale House and the residents, as necessary. Holidays amount to 33 days, including bank holidays.
