Worthing-based charity, Care for Veterans, held its annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday 2 December, and the event raised a fantastic total of £4,200!
More than 300 visitors browsed the various craft stalls at the Christmas market as they enjoyed mulled wine and mince pies, while listening to carols sung by the Mid Sussex Choir. Children won lots of prizes on the teddy tombola, visited Santa in his grotto, and The Owls About Town even made a special appearance, which was enjoyed by visitors and Care for Veterans’ residents.
Care for Veterans’ Head of Fundraising, Elizabeth Baxter, said: “Our heartfelt thanks go to all who supported our Christmas Bazaar and helped us raise these vital funds for the charity and our residents. Thanks to all who came along and joined in the fun of the event; to our hard-working volunteers who helped on the day; to the stall holders and cake bakers; and to Santa and the Mid Sussex Choir who made this an especially enjoyable and seasonal event. The money raised will go to fund care and rehabilitation therapies for our residents, for example vital physiotherapy to help keep them as mobile and independent as possible. This incredible amount of money will be very well spent on the residents in our care this festive season, and we send our gratitude to all who made his possible.”

The average age of residents is 65 with the eldest resident being 99 and the youngest 31.
Our residents represent the tri-services: Royal Navy, Army and RAF.
Services at Care for Veterans include nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, an active social and recreation department, rehabilitation kitchen, a chaplaincy service, counselling, IT facilities, a rehabilitation garden, sensory room, coffee shop and function room and regular outings on our specially adapted coach.
With no regular government funding, Care for Veterans must raise over £1.3 million each year to maintain its nursing and rehabilitation services for ex-Servicemen and women.
