RFEA The Forces Employment Charity will work with Team London, the Mayor of London’s volunteering programme, to deliver Forces for London. This new initiative is co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Mayor of London to increase the employment rate of veterans in London.
Many veterans struggle to find a job after their military service. By 2020, Forces for London will support 200 veterans who face such barriers, all of whom will receive mentoring support, with 190 completing volunteering, and more than 120 securing meaningful sustained employment, training or education.
The programme will work with veteran support charities, social enterprises and local businesses and give veterans access to a broad range of volunteering opportunities, mentoring and employability training. This will help them to gain experience, develop new skills and translate their existing skills into ones that are valued by the civilian workplace.
Stephen Gledhill, RFEA’s Chief Executive, said: “We are very pleased to be working with the Mayor of London and increasing our support for veterans in London. London can be a daunting place to find work and this programme means a dedicated team based in London that really understands the unique issues faced by veterans in our Capital. We are delighted to be delivering this programme in partnership with Walking with the Wounded and Stoll.”
