On the 27th June, the charity’s Patron, Lady Kitty Spencer, hosted an intimate lunch at Fortnum & Mason to raise funds to send a group of families on a respite break to Malta.
Lady Kitty was joined on the day by Give Us Time’s Ambassador, Ant Middleton, who was previously in the Special Boat Services and now hosts the Channel 4 shows SAS: Who Dares Wins and Mutiny.
Both Ant and Lady Kitty are strong supporters of the armed forces and advocates to assist not only those serving and veterans, but also their family units.
Military families play a pivotal role in supporting Service personnel and veterans. It is therefore important to focus not only on the health of those serving, but on the family as a whole: an aspect often overlooked by the charitable sector. Give Us Time was established as a charity in 2013 to address this gap in provision and provide military families with a space to rest and reconnect after bereavement, deployment and physical or mental wounds.
The money raised thanks to the lunch will sponsor flights for four families going to Malta, courtesy Azure Resort. The families have been selected from the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Center and from the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland, who were recently deployed in Iraq.
