A military charity is challenging local residents to ‘give it a glow’ and take part in their fun group night walk along Brighton sea front.
On Saturday 29 September, Blind Veterans UK will be hosting the Neon Walk in which participants are being encouraged to don their most luminous outfits in order to raise funds for Blind Veterans UK, the national charity for vision-impaired ex-Service men and women.
The starting point of the walk will be from the charity’s rehabilitation centre in Ovingdean – an iconic building which this year celebrates its 80th year.
Rachel Chitty Regional Fundraiser for Blind Veterans UK, says: “We’re delighted to be offering our supporters this event, which is brand new for 2018. We love seeing the enthusiasm and creativity they bring to our events, which will be especially colourful in this case!”
Participants can choose between taking on 8km or 20km walks, leading along the beautiful Brighton seafront to King Alfred in Hove via Rottingdean and back, where they will receive a well-earned breakfast bag.
Those taking part will also receive an exclusive event t-shirt, and the opportunity to purchase glow merchandise including a necklace, bracelet and glow sticks at the time of registration.
The Neon Walk begins from the Blind Veterans UK rehabilitation and training centre, Ovingdean, on Saturday 29 September at 10.30pm. Registration costs £15 for adults and £7.50 for children. There is a minimum sponsorship pledge of £50.
There is no minimum age for participants but under 18s must be accompanied by an adult and able to walk at least 8km. Dogs are welcome but should be kept on a lead at all times.
Places can be pre-booked by calling 01273 39 1455 or emailing rachel.chitty@blindveterans.org.uk.
