The Role
Although best known for our Remembrance work and the iconic red poppy, the Legion is the largest welfare provider in the military charity sector and has a long and successful campaigning history. We work tirelessly to safeguard the Armed Forces Covenant, which ensures that those who serve, have served and their families are not left disadvantaged by the unique nature of military life.
The Legion is seeking a talented, committed and enthusiastic public affairs and campaigns professional to shape and deliver our political engagement and campaigning activities in Wales. In this role, you will monitor and advise senior colleagues on developments in Welsh Government and the Welsh Assembly, and identify opportunities to influence in order to secure positive policy change. Working closely with PR, Welfare and Public Affairs and Public Policy colleagues, you will also grow our campaign activities at local authority level, engaging with local health boards and building relationships with key partner organisations. You will also aid in the establishment of a network of supporters who are willing to advocate on behalf of the Armed Forces community.
Able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of national, devolved and local politics, you will be familiar with both traditional and digital campaigning techniques. You will be a strong team player, have a proven record of delivering campaign outcomes in Wales, and possess excellent communication skills with impeccable attention to detail. You will be confident working remotely and acting on your own initiative, whilst the ability to speak in the Welsh language is desirable.
