Army families asked to help achieve better communication

In its latest survey of Army families, The Army Families Federation (AFF) wants to know how best to communicate with those it supports.

Reaching you the right way
From 18 February to 8 March, families have the chance to give their views on how they most like to receive news and updates on issues that affect them. With Army command and MOD developing policies that affect all Army families, such as those around future housing and flexible working, AFF’s survey also asks about communication with the Army and MOD too. Families have a chance to give their preferences and ensure they’re receiving important information in the most suitable way for them.

Good communication is vital
AFF Chief Executive Sara Baade said:

“Communication with Army families is absolutely vital and AFF does this in a variety of ways. As well as our online communication via our website and social media pages, we’re out in the community meeting families face-to-face. We want to find out how families prefer to speak to us, are we getting it right and are we sharing the right things? I encourage families to be honest with us and have their say.”

AFF regularly updates families via its website, as well as its popular social media pages. They also have a number of local AFF Co-ordinators who meet with families at events such as local coffee mornings.

Notes to Editor:

  • The Army Families Federation (AFF) is the independent voice of Army families: Regular or Reserve, wherever they are based, whatever the make-up of their family.
  • Throughout the UK and overseas, AFF works hard to achieve policy change and progress in favour of Army families; they offer advice and guidance on all aspects of Army life, confidentially and in an easy-to-digest way.
  • They work with other agencies such as MOD, government, charities and other key players to strengthen their cause and fight for a fair deal for families everywhere.
  • Their family-focussed website (www.aff.org.uk) contains information about all aspects of Army family life, and their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages offer families other easy ways to contact us, interact with us, or simply follow the work we are doing.
  • AFF operates by four core values, which are pivotal to our work. These are:

– AFF always puts families first
– AFF can be trusted
– AFF is bold and determined
– AFF is inclusive
