Chairman of Heropreneurs, Peter Mountford says:

“I founded the Heropreneurs Awards, in association with the Daily Telegraph, to celebrate and bring the public’s awareness to the achievements of people in business that have served in the British Armed Forces. I also wanted to highlight the work that is done by Heropreneurs, which helps Armed Forces veterans and dependents on the road to creating their own businesses – we currently have 68 veterans and spouses actively benefiting from our Mentoring Programme, and over the last 10 years have helped many people on this difficult journey into civvy street.

“We have an expert community of almost 50 highly experienced and successful entrepreneurs and business people as our Business Mentors and they provide their independent and objective services entirely for free and without commercial benefit”.

Chairman of the Judges, General Sir John McColl, KCB, CBE, DSO says:

“Last year I said I was honoured to be asked to be the Head of Judges, having now seen the breadth and quality of the nominations received by The Heropreneurs Awards , I am even more delighted to continue my role for the 2019 event. Military training produces qualities in people that gives them the skills they need to face the challenges they will meet as a potential entrepreneur.

“They are focused, disciplined, determined, and able to use their initiative. With mentoring from Heropreneurs they will gain the advice and support they need to enhance that success.”

The Awards ceremony will take place on 7 November 2019 at a formal dinner in the Plaisterers’ Hall in the City of London. There is no charge to enter the Awards or for Finalists to attend the Awards dinner. Sponsors of the Heropreneurs Awards are OBXtek Inc , The Veterans’ Foundation , The Warwick Business School, Further sponsorship opportunities are also available.

About Heropreneurs

Heropreneurs is registered charity number 1136671, and a member of Cobseo, that was formed 10 years ago to help anyone from the Armed Forces, or their dependants, who wish to start a business or who have created their own business but need strategic help.

Heropreneurs runs a free Mentoring Programme that anyone who has served in the Armed Forces can apply to join. Mentors are very carefully chosen and are all successful entrepreneurs or business people who give their time entirely for free. Heropreneurs does not promote entrepreneurship for the sake of it, as 50% of new start-ups fail in their first 4 years, and takes a highly responsible and ethical approach to the help that it gives.

Heropreneurs does not employ a CEO, has no offices, and is run by volunteers who willingly give their time for free and who receive no financial benefit from their involvement.
