Bridge Leisure, who own and operate holiday parks across the UK, has announced it will continue to support the fantastic work of the charity ‘Give Us Time’ by donating even more holidays for military families in need of rest, relaxation and re-connection.
Since the company started working with the charity in 2018, over 50 families have benefited from a much-needed holiday at one of Bridge Leisure’s parks, with more expected over the coming months.
Liam, who stayed at Hengar Manor in Cornwall with his young family, was invited to speak to some of the team at Bridge Leisure to help them understand how important their work is. He bravely told his story about his battle with depression and shared a poem he had written to his wife.
Liam said: “During all the transition, my wife Tess took my depression and worry on her shoulders and the children were affected by this too. Our week at Hengar Manor Country Park was amazing! There was a lot to do in the local area and at the park and my son did archery and swimming. We really bonded together, and the break helped us strengthen our relationship at such a crucial time.”
CEO Andrew Howe said: “The story Liam told us really brought to life the importance of the work Give Us Time do. They help keep families together and give them something to look forward to. It is such a great charity for us to support. Our business is about helping families create lasting happy memories on their holidays and it is an honour for us to be able to give something back to the military families who have sacrificed such a lot to keep us all safe.”
Another family, who stayed at Ashbourne Height in the Peak District thanked Bridge Leisure for helping their family re-connect and enjoy each other’s company again, laughing and smiling.
Sean Taylor, Chairman of Give Us Time added: “Bridge Leisure has gone the Extra Mile for Military Families: their donation of 50 breaks and fundraising efforts are a mainstay for the delivery of Give Us Time’s respite breaks. Their 9 UK holiday parks, in fantastic locations, provide a warm welcome, friendly atmosphere and marvellous accommodation: our beneficiaries enjoy the rest, recuperation and relaxation they both need and deserve. The Bridge Leisure Team really do put their heart and soul into what they do: I cannot thank them enough.”
