Like many, the LifeWorks team at RBLI have furloughed staff; additionally others have been re-rolled to assist the battle in the care homes on their village or been supporting the veterans in Britain’s Bravest Manufacturing Company, creating critical items and enabling a food distribution centre. Again, like many teams they have had to adapt their tried and tested approach to the provision of employability coaching and career guidance, something they are aware will be increasingly necessary as unemployment inevitably rises in the coming months.
Their nationally delivered face to face courses are still on hold, but one of their experienced and empathetic employability coaches is delivering group sessions for those interested in finding out more about LifeWorks or LifeWorks-Families and a slightly more in-depth session for LifeWorks Beneficiaries as part of our ReachBack process. LifeWorks continues to offer 1:1 remote support and they also have plans to launch LifeWorks-Remote in the coming weeks that will allow small groups of veterans to come together remotely to receive a blend of video, online and downloadable support to ensure they are best placed for any job application when the mist clears. Members of military families are also encouraged to register for the LifeWorks-Families online learning platform, an informative, relaxed, comprehensive and free employability service available to all – dependents of school leaving age particularly.
