Cobseo Members are invited to access our support. If your Services Users or Association members are facing a visit to hospital or need other medical support, our Welfare Officers can support you in offering comprehensive and confidential medical welfare support to patients and their immediate family. We are highly experienced in working with patients when, although their medical needs may be being met, other issues, problems or social influences may be distracting them from their recovery. Our support is always tailored to individuals and can include a confidential and impartial listening ear, helping to explain and resolve any medical care issue and referrals to other agencies for support.
As an independent charity, Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS) provides help and support to the Armed Forces community and other frontline staff whenever they are receiving medical treatment. For 75 years our practical and emotional support has ensured that no family goes through the worry of illness or injury alone.
Our independent and confidential welfare service is available 24/7 on 365 days a year. We operate in hospitals and recovery centres across the UK and Cyprus for serving Armed Forces personnel, veterans and their families.
We work with patients when their medical needs are being met but when other issues, problems or social influences may be distracting them from their recovery. To that end we not only support the patient and his/her family but also the health care providers by freeing up clinical staff to concentrate on their core duties. We also help employers such as the Police and the Armed Forces to demonstrate that they take their Duty of Care obligations seriously and contribute to a swifter discharge from hospital, a quicker recovery for the patient and an earlier return to work.
We currently support:
· Serving Armed Forces Personnel, Reservists and Veterans and their family members
· Aged Veterans, their family members and carers
