Northrop Grumman in the UK has donated US $50,000 (£39,000) to SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity to support their Emergency Response Fund to help support those during the COVID-19 outbreak and lockdown.
The global aerospace and defence technology company has donated US $50,000 to SSAFA’s Emergency Response Fund – the charity’s response to the crisis which will prioritise support for front-line services ensuring provision of immediate service to those affected by the lockdown.
Northrop Grumman in the UK is a long-standing supporter of SSAFA and has been the Platinum Sponsor for the charity’s premier fundraising event, the Defence Industry Charitable Dinner, since 2014.
The company recently renewed the sponsorship until 2022 and is also a member of SSAFA’s Corporate Friends networking scheme.
Sir Andrew Gregory, Controller at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity said:
“I and all in SSAFA are most grateful to Northrop Grumman UK for their extremely generous donation of $50,000 to our Emergency Response Fund (ERF).
“The ERF gives us instantly available resources to assist those in need including veterans and families whose circumstances have worsened as a result of Covid-19; levels of hardship and requests for support are certain to increase yet further in the rest of 2020 and thereafter. SSAFA’s support can vary from providing urgent financial assistance for basic living to welfare and emotional help for those who have lost their jobs, are grieving or in crisis. Northrop Grumman’s commitment to our work is magnificent and very much valued.”
Nick Chaffey, Chief Executive, Northrop Grumman UK and Europe said:
“I am delighted that Northrop Grumman has been able to build on its existing relationship with SSAFA and make this donation to fund the vital work that they do to support our Armed Forces and their families.”
