***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***
The Royal Navy and Royal Marines charity is an important charity for our naval family and works towards a world in which our sailors, marines, and their families are valued and supported, for life.
With the encouragement and support of both the Royal Navy and Greenwich Hospital, the charity was formed in 2007 and now runs a sophisticated and proactive programme of grant-making partnerships to address the causes of need. We collaborate and partner closely with organisations across the military charity sector and beyond.
We are in the early stages of an exciting new strategic phase for the charity. Our current Chair reaches the end of his statutory term of office in summer 2021, and we are now looking for an outstanding individual to lead our Board of Trustees. The Chair will have the opportunity to make a real contribution to our future by providing leadership and direction both as an ambassador for our charity and by enabling the Board to fulfil its responsibilities for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity.
Candidates will bring experience of successful senior leadership of a complex organisation in any sector (public, private, civil society or Armed Forces) alongside substantial experience of external representation, and especially the management and influencing of senior stakeholders. Experience of charity governance and working with or as part of a Board of Trustees is deeply valued, and a clear appreciation of our mission, our work and that of the wider the military charity sector will be expected.
The Chair is appointed for an initial three-year term and is eligible for reappointment for one further term of three years.
