Worthing charity hosts online wine tasting fundraiser

Last week, over 120 people took part in a virtual wine tasting event to support disabled veterans.

Worthing-based charity, Care for Veterans, held its first-ever Virtual Wine Tasting evening in partnership with Majestic Wine (Worthing) on Friday 12 February.

The evening was a great success, raising £1,600 which will go towards funding the care and rehabilitation of disabled ex-Service personnel and their families.

The evening was hosted by Jonny Davis, Assistant Manager at Majestic Wine in Worthing, who took participants through the tasting of five different wines.

The charity’s local supporters came out in great numbers, but the event was also supported nationally, with participants from Plymouth to Glasgow getting involved.

James Bacharew, Head of Fundraising and Marketing at Care for Veterans, said:

“Like so many charities, we have had a challenging year for fundraising with most of our usual events cancelled. This was the first event of its kind for us, so we weren’t sure how it would go. However, the event was very popular, and the evening itself went very smoothly without even any technical hitches!

“It was so good to get together with our supporters, even if it can’t yet be in person. Thank you so much to our supporters. I want to make a special mention of Majestic Wine and our host, Jonny, for their support in holding this event.”
