The following message has been shared by the Captain Tom 100 team to provide additional information for Members planning fundraising activities:
It was exactly one year ago today that Captain Sir Tom completed his famous 100 laps of his garden and his message of hope still rings true across the world. As we come together to celebrate his life and legacy over his birthday weekend of 30 April to 3 May, we can all do our bit to follow in his footsteps and step up to help those who need it most.
Thank you so much for supporting The Captain Tom 100. We hope you are enjoying the buzz surrounding the campaign and you’re finding the assets helpful in reaching out to your supporters. Simply set up a fundraising page, host it on your website or social platforms and start raising money – simple as that.
Need some inspiration on how to position your charity in the campaign? This campaign is about building on the joy and comfort Captain Sir Tom brought to millions and his message that whatever your cause, there is hope.
You can find examples of challenges here. Whether you’re an environmental charity challenging supporters to pick up 100 pieces of litter, an arts charity encouraging your supporters to write a 100 word story or a charity that supports those struggling with mental health encouraging the sharing of 100 positive affirmations with those they love, there is something for everyone and we encourage you to get involved.
We launched the campaign last Tuesday and it has already generated huge media coverage and support from charities, celebrities, corporates and the general public. With strong public support for the campaign now is the time to encourage your corporate supporters and contacts to get behind The Captain Tom 100 Challenge.
In the toolkit you’ll find assets that will support you in reaching out to influencers and encouraging them to raise money for your charity.
The factsheet and email template provides background information and outlines next steps of how to easily get involved.
Finally, we would love to hear your stories and the incredible challenges your supporters are taking on. Please send them to stories@captaintom.org. We will use them to amplify the Captain Tom 100 campaign and help inspire hope far and wide in the run up to and also across the actual Captain Tom 100 weekend. Please note: we would like to consider sharing some of these with the media so please only share if you are comfortable for this to happen.
Thank you so much again for your support of The Captain Tom 100 Challenge and good luck with your fundraising!
Best wishes
The Captain Tom 100 Team
