“If I’d known then what I know now”.
David (now Lord) Blunkett will be gracing the stage at Cutlers’ Hall in his hometown of Sheffield on 30 September, to speak at FirstLight Trust’s brand-new lecture series “If I’d known then what I know now.” This event will be the first in a planned series of talks from outstanding personalities who have pushed boundaries all their lives. Proceeds from ticket sales and a prize draw will support the work of the Trust: a national charity caring for Veterans and those leaving the Armed Forces and Emergency Services. Given Lord Blunkett’s unsurpassed personal and political roots to Sheffield and his knowledge of the area, having the inaugural lecture at Cutlers’ Hall seems appropriate.
Dorinda Wolfe Murray, Founding Trustee of FirstLight Trust explains,
“We put people at the heart of all that we deliver. It seems pertinent then to celebrate, inform and spread the word with a lecture series centred around outstanding and interesting individuals.”
The lecture series is about celebrating the life and experiences of extraordinary individuals; whilst raising vital funds to enable FirstLight Trust to deliver crucial support, as well as addressing the increasing isolation, loneliness and mental health issues suffered many veterans of all ages who have served their country and have fallen through the net of provision. The pandemic has exacerbated the problems and increased the number of Veterans and their families needing support.
Due to social distancing regulations tickets are extremely limited, if you find yourself unable to purchase a ticket then you have the option to leave a donation and be entered into a draw to win some fantastic prizes.
