As part of the funding that we received from the Armed Forces Covenant Trust Fund, we have been able to recruit a number of new female beneficiaries.
This includes beneficiary Laura O’Neill who only started with On Course Foundation in June. Laura served in the Royal Navy for 26 years before being medically discharged after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
She was completely new to golf but has since gone on to attend several events. Laura has even been able to encourage her daughter to start playing and they now play regularly together as members of their local nine hole golf club. In Laura’s words:
‘’ I have met lots of new people who have become friends and learned enough about golf to be able to hold my own on the golf course. I have found that my own experiences have also helped me to reassure others. I have also found some self-confidence to get out and try doing some new things too. It really has been life-changing for me in the very short-time that I have been with OCF.’’

Veterans like Laura have really benefited from our programme and we are trying to encourage as many wounded, injured and sick female Service personnel and veterans to join On Course Foundation and give golf a go.
