Sailors’ Children’s Society is seeking to recruit new Trustees to the Board in preparation for the retirement of 3 long standing members in 2022.
As a member of our board, you will join at an exciting time as we move forwards in our 200th year providing targeted support to maritime families throughout the UK, a combination of financial, practical and emotional elements. Families turn to us usually following a traumatic event such as bereavement, loss or diagnosis of a life changing illness. We provide support to enable the family to move forwards again as they adjust to their new circumstances. Our patron is HRH Princess Royal and the President is the Earl of Halifax, both of whom take a keen interest in the work of the Society.
You will be joining a Board of Trustees from a range of backgrounds including naval personnel, ship owners, finance, public sector and commercial professionals. The trustees bring their skills and experience to the Society and play a vital role in helping to guide the charity’s strategy.
The full Trustee board meets quarterly and there is also have a Finance & Investment sub-committee. All appointments are made for a period of 3 years and ongoing contact is usually via telephone/email/zoom meetings. We are currently looking for Trustees from the following specific backgrounds:
- Royal Navy
- Mental Health services
- Finance profession
