This is a permanent, hybrid community-based role.
We have a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated outreach case worker to provide specialist vocational support to Armed Forces veterans in Salisbury and the wider South- West region.
Working as part of a national, decentralised team, you’ll help individuals with complex needs build confidence, gain new skills, and enter sustainable employment.
You’ll be part of a close-knit community of expert employment advisors and colleagues. There is regular online support and plenty of opportunity for in-person meetings to collaborate, attend events, and organisational gatherings.
The position is full-time, 35 hours per week with a salary of £28,325. We are committed to supporting our people’s health and well-being reflected in a robust employment package.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be a positive ambassador for Forces Employment Charity and always work within policies and professional boundaries.
- Assess beneficiary needs, using an Outcome Star and motivational interviewing techniques.
- Make appropriate referrals to other military charities or other organisations for wider needs. This should include local activities, mentoring etc.
- Provide vocational advice and guidance to develop an Action Plan.
- Identify and engage with training providers and employers to identify opportunities that meet beneficiaries’ requirements aligned with Action Plans.
- Support applications for additional funding/grants as necessary.
- Provide employability training including job search, CVs, applications, recruitment processes and interview coaching.
- Work with our Employer Relationship Manager (ERM) to develop employer partnerships and broker volunteering, work experience, and job opportunities for beneficiaries.
- Offer in-work or placement support to ensure vocational outcomes are sustainable.
- Co-ordinate with Forces Employment Charity Advisors across our other programmes and external stakeholders to optimise beneficiary support.
- Monitor and record milestones and successful employment outcomes as set out by the funder reporting requirements and data for management information.
- Maintain accuracy and integrity in all interactions with our online CRM system (Salesforce) ensuring the timely capture and entry of all beneficiary and external engagement activity.
Person Specification:
Essential Competencies:
- Full access to your own car and the ability to travel to deliver support and attend events within the region.
- Good at working independently to targets and deadlines.
- Familiar with the local employment market, training, and adult education opportunities.
Desirable Competencies:
- NVQ Level 4 in Information, Advice & Guidance (not essential) as training will be provided.
- Friendly, empathetic, and non-judgemental.
- An effective team player with the desire to make a difference to people’s lives.
- Experienced in supporting vulnerable adults and have a good understanding of the challenges UK veterans face.
- Person-centred, proactive, caring, and curious, with excellent communication, organisation, and admin skills.
Security Clearance:
An Enhanced DBS disclosure will also be required.
