Major grant awarded by Glasgow Commonweal Fund to SSAFA in Scotland

£5,000 grant will support beneficiaries in the Glasgow area.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity in Scotland has been awarded £5,000 by the Trades House of Glasgow Commonweal Fund to continue its work with veterans, serving personnel, and their families in the Glasgow area.

The Trades House of Glasgow, established in 1605, is a registered charity and with member bodies of the 14 Crafts – from Hammermen to Cordiners and Fleshers to Coopers – it focuses its support on deserving causes and individuals across the City of Glasgow, making donations of more than £750,000 per year.

A spokesperson for SSAFA in Scotland said:

While SSAFA has – at 138 years old – a long and rich history, it still has some way to go before it’s been around quite as long as the Trades House of Glasgow.

However, this generous donation of £5,000 will do much to support serving personnel and veterans, and their families just as SSAFA has done since 1885, giving the help when, where, and how it is needed, so on behalf of current and future clients, a big ‘thank you’ to the Trades House of Glasgow.”
