It seems carrying a 70lb military bergen and walking for 24 hours solid wasn’t tough enough for PC Scott Caswell who will soon be setting off on his latest charity challenge. This time it’s a non-stop walk across the county dropping in at various police stations across Warwickshire along the way.
Scott, who is our Armed Forces lead, will start his challenge from Shipston police station in South Warwickshire at midnight on 14 June. As in his previous endeavours, he’ll be carrying his military bergen again loaded with 70lb in weight, all the way to Atherstone police station in North Warwickshire – a distance of more than 90 miles – where he’s hoping to arrive at noon on 15 June.
En route, he’ll swing by Stratford police station, Leamington, Leek Wootton, Ryton College, Rugby, Bedworth, and Nuneaton Veteran Contact Point Centre. He’ll be joined by military veterans who will be holding up the Armed Forces flag at each of these checkpoints and provide Scott with refreshments and Banter as needed.
Scott, one of the force’s Armed Response Officers, is aiming to complete the task in around 32 hours and will be posting updates live on social media. Anyone wishing to join him during the walk is more than welcome.
The 50-year-old’s charity effort is being held in aid of The Veterans Contact Point – a local military charity who work with and support military veterans and their families in the community. You can donate here: Scott’s charity walk for VCP
