About the role

We are recruiting for a full time Personal and Family Support Worker (PFSW) based at RAFC Cranwell to join our team.

  • The PFSW will provide direct and impactful welfare support to our service users which include RAF personnel and their immediate families.
  • PFSW intervention with serving personnel and families, is provided with consent on a non-statutory basis.
  • There will be opportunities to develop and add to existing skills and knowledge base in the Social Care field.
  • You will be required to conduct need assessments for our service users to plan and create appropriate interventions.
  • You will be required to deliver SSAFA briefings/presentations to the RAF Community on a regular basis.
  • You will be working closely with Station Personal Support and Community teams, relevant Local Authorities, Health, other civilian agencies as well as other military organisations and charities.

About the Team

The Personal Support & Social Work Service (PS & SWS) is a non-statutory, confidential service, for the Royal Air Force community, with a presence on RAF stations and MOD locations across the UK.

This role is located at RAFC Cranwell, part of the friendly and supportive East Region.  We are a hard-working team, from diverse professional backgrounds, dispersed across the East of England.  Although we all have our own area of responsibility, we support each other in delivering the best possible service to the military community.

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in the field of Health and Social care or equivalent alternative experience.
  • Experience of carrying out assessments, preparing plans, monitoring, and reviewing outcomes.
  • Excellent skills in prioritisation and organisation of caseload.
  • Comprehensive IT skills including MS Office and case management systems.
  • It is essential that you have access to a vehicle and have a full driving licence and be able to travel as required.

Interviews – This is a two-stage process.  Successful short-listed candidates will be invited to an initial online interview on Thursday 06 July / Friday 07th July, this is likely to take 30 minutes.  After further shortlisting, successful candidates will be invited to a second formal in-person interview, which will be held on Wednesday 12 July 23 at RAFC Cranwell.  For this interview you will be required to provide a ten-minute presentation on a subject that will be given to you ahead of the interview.
