Supporting the welfare of veterans and their families in Cornwall

ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is delighted to award a £10,000 grant to Smart Savings CIC towards its Veterans Regroup project, helping veterans and their families in Cornwall.

Supporting the wellbeing of Army veterans and families across our local communities is a priority for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity. Almost 38,000 military veterans live in Cornwall, most of whom served in the Army.

Smart Savings’ Veterans Regroup project is managed by veterans and offers free confidential advice on a wide range of financial and health issues, group wellbeing sessions and outdoor social events. Our grant will help the organisation meet the rising demand for its services due to the impact of the cost of living crisis on Cornwall’s military families.

Jane Jiwa, Projects Director, Smart Savings CIC, said:

“We are extremely grateful for this very generous grant from ABF The Soldiers’ Charity. This grant will allow us to continue offering our vital services to veterans and their families in Cornwall who have been adversely impacted by the cost of living crisis.”

Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief Operating Officer, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, added:

“As the cost of living affects veterans and their families, it is important that local community interest companies such as Smart Savings are on hand to provide financial advice and support to those who need it. It is a great asset to Cornwall’s military community and we were only too happy to provide funding this year.”
