ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is delighted to award a £109,910 grant to Care for Veterans towards its specialist care services for disabled ex-soldiers.
For many years ABF The Soldiers’ Charity has supported Care for Veterans, which is the only organisation in southern England specialising in disability, nursing and rehabilitation care for Armed Forces veterans (or dependents).
The charity’s 60-bed facility in Worthing offers specialist support for a wide range of physical disabilities, such as Acquired Brain Injury and other neurological conditions, genetic disorders, amputations and sight impairments. In 2022, the charity cared for 85 residents, 47 per cent of whom were Army veterans – the average age was 73.
Our grant will enable the charity to continue providing its wide range of services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social recreational activities, speech and language therapy, chaplaincy and neuropsychology.
Kate Shroder, Chief Executive Officer at Care for Veterans, said:
“We are extremely grateful to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity for its loyal support of Care for Veterans over a great number of years. Its support in 2023 will have a significant impact on our Army veterans, allowing us to continue delivering our vital care and rehabilitation services at a time when many are facing, possibly, the toughest battles of their lives.”
Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief Operating Officer, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, added:
“Our charity is proud of the long-standing relationship we have with Care for Veterans. We were very pleased to award another grant this year towards its first-class care and rehabilitation services for veterans with complex neurological and other conditions.”
