Howwood teen to tackle Edinburgh Kiltwalk on birthday weekend

Ben Craig is going to put his best foot forward – and his granddad’s kilt on – for the Edinburgh Kiltwalk on 17 September.

Johnstone High School student Ben, who was born in Paisley on September 16, is the son of a former RAF Senior Aircraftman Technician who served with the Expeditionary Radar and Airfield Squadron, which included two operational tours in Iraq at Basra Air Station.

The dedicated teenager – who is also an Air Cadet – said:

I want to help all in the military community, and so I’m fundraising for SSAFA because it’s a charity that contributes to the needs of all services not just the RAF.”

His mum, Aileen, added:

All of his family are so very proud of Ben for choosing to spend his fourteenth birthday weekend walking the Kiltwalk and raising money for such a worthy cause as SSAFA.

SSAFA is the UK’s oldest tri-service charity, and its work in Scotland, the rest of the United Kingdom, and overseas changes and even saves lives.
