As part of our close relationship with Scotty’s Little Soldiers, the ABF is delighted to award £30,000 towards its work helping the bereaved children of Army families.
Our charity believes in looking after everyone in the Army family, especially the children of those who have served their country and, sadly, lost their lives. Scotty’s Little Soldiers wants every bereaved child and young person to have access to the very best emotional wellbeing support and the chance to smile again.
Our grant will support the core costs of the charity’s four Family Programmes (Smiles, Support, Stride and Springboard) over the next year to enable over 500 Army families and children to experience fun activities, bereavement support, learning opportunities and life skills.
Nikki Scott, Founder of Scotty’s Little Soldiers, said:
“We are so grateful to the Army Benevolent Fund for making such a generous contribution to Scotty’s Little Soldiers. More than 70% of our current membership are Army families and it’s important they know they aren’t alone. We are here to provide a range of support, whilst also helping the children and young people maintain their connection to the military community, despite the death of their Armed Forces parent.”
Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief Operating Officer Army Benevolent Fund, added:
“Bereavement can be such a painful and difficult experience for Army children. The compassionate care delivered by Nikki and her team is such an inspiration to everyone across the Army family and was recognized recently at the highest levels in the government too. We are very pleased to support Scotty’s Little Soldiers again this year.”
