Founded in 1915, by Sir Arthur Pearson, to help the many veterans losing their sight after the First World War, we have supported those blinded in subsequent wars and military engagements, including the Second World War, and more recently, the conflicts in the Faulklands, Iraq and Afghanistan.

We are currently seeking a Community Support Worker to join us on a part-time, permanent basis, working 17.5 hours per week.

The Role
As a Community Support Worker, you will support our members in London to achieve their goals, whilst maximising their independence and wellbeing.
You’ll carry out risk assessments and identify the needs of individuals and how to meet them, responding to queries and feedback to better co-ordinate services.
Providing a member-led service, you’ll collaboratively plan and oversee the delivery of specialist interventions, wellbeing programmes, rehabilitation events and other activities, focusing on promoting our members’ independence and wellbeing.
Additionally, you will:
– Issue equipment, with support
– Support the development and work of volunteers
– Support our partnerships for joint working, member support and future programmes
– Ensure compliance with safeguarding and risk management policy
About You
To be considered as a Community Support Worker, you will need:
– Experience of working with people with disabilities to maximise their independence and wellbeing
– Experience and knowledge of completing comprehensive, holistic assessments
– The ability to use assessment tools and action plans
– The ability to identify safeguarding concerns and act in line with policies
– Strong collaborative skills
– A relevant Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience
