New photograph of The King and message from The Queen to mark Armed Forces Day

To mark Armed Forces Day this year, a new photograph of His Majesty The King, as Head of the Armed Forces, has been released.  The portrait of The King, issued during the 80th anniversary year of D-Day, was taken by photographer Hugo Burnand and features His Majesty wearing his Field Marshal No1 Full Ceremonial Frock Coat with medals, sword and decorations. The photograph was taken in the Grand Corridor at Windsor Castle, in November 2023.

A special message from Her Majesty The Queen has also been released, thanking veterans, serving members of the Armed Forces and their families for their service. The video message was filmed in the Morning Room at Clarence House and has been produced by the British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS), of which Her Majesty is Patron.
