The Beyond the Battlefield podcast, produced by the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research, explores the latest advancements in the health and well-being of military personnel, Veterans, and their families. Each week, Dr. Nicholas Held hosts conversations between leading researchers and people with lived experience to discuss contemporary issues affecting the Armed Forces community.
In June, Prof. Nicola Fear & Dr Rachael Gribble were interviewed on the podcast about their work on the health, wellbeing, and identities of military and veteran families. Their attendance was a result of a families-focused edition of the Journal of Military, Veteran and Family Health, edited by Prof Fear and Dr Heidi Cramm, Queens University, Kingston, Canada.
The April edition of JMVFH included a number of papers co-authored by Prof. Fear and Dr Gribble with UK and international colleagues, including:
- The identities of partners of UK veterans
- Reservist families understanding of welfare support
- The impact of paternal mental health on adolescents, and
- The experiences of parents of Canadian veterans with illness or injury.
