Cadets in Enterprise: Counting Down to the Weekend

It’s that time of year when we at X-Forces Enterprise volunteer our time to spend a wonderful weekend with the leaders of tomorrow – our fantastic Cadets. We do this not only because we are passionate about it, but because we know that the employability skills our Cadets will learn can have an incredible impact on their future careers.

We’ve shared countless highlights with Cadets, and seeing the impact of the Cadets in Enterprise initiative is never short of inspiring. Now less than a month away from our upcoming weekend of training, we’re reflecting on why enterprise education is vital – not only for young people, but also society as a whole.

Understanding the structures of our economy is an essential life-skill, and arming Cadets with this knowledge equips them with the confidence to pursue their full potential and carve out their future career goals. Over the course of the weekend, we’ll dive into essential skills and knowledge, such as budgeting and money management, the pros and cons of starting a business, the sectors of our economy, and mastering the art of effectively presenting your ideas. This educates young people not only on how business works, but more importantly on where they fit into society and how their most powerful attributes might shape their futures.

Whether these Cadets envision themselves in the military, employed or running their own business, there is so much value in opening them up to the limitless opportunities available to them. Cadets are already afforded powerful skills by the military mindset, and when combined with enterprise training, this makes a powerful formula for success. Applying military leadership to business plays a big role in our delivery, and we also teach Cadets how this overlaps to foster adaptability, resilience, and resourcefulness – skills that will serve them for life.

A highlight of the weekend is the friendly Dragon’s Den-style pitch session, where in groups, Cadets present their business ideas to some of our valued partners who volunteer their time. Demonstrating the merit of the Cadets in Enterprise weekend, this is always a fantastic chance for employers and experienced professionals to see first-hand the wealth of new perspectives and innovative thinking that young minds can bring to business today.

We are looking forward to welcoming these young faces both online and in person. Please keep a keen eye out for our exciting updates on 20 and 21 September when we will be delivering the programme. And to our partners – if you are interested, please do get in touch to discuss how you can get involved!

But it doesn’t end there. Our Cadets will enjoy a truly unique experience at the London Stock Exchange Group offices in Paternoster Square, the inspiring setting for our graduation ceremony on 22nd November. They will be joined by fellow Cadets – fresh from their stellar work at the Soldiering On Awards finale – who will receive Certificates of Attendance and our profound gratitude for executing their duties with professionalism, discipline, and aplomb.
