The Sussex branch of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is thrilled to announce its annual Winter Concert, which will take place on Tuesday 19 November at 7:30 p.m. at the Chequer Mead Theatre in East Grinstead. This year’s concert will feature a spectacular performance by The Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas, known for its Vibrant and diverse musical repertoire.
The Winter Concert has become a cherished event, attracts loyal audiences year after year. Established more than 25 years ago by the late Lieutenant Colonel Tom Major of the Royal Artillery, it has since been carried on by his daughter, Pat Kirkham, following her father’s passing in 2005. The concert has grown into a beloved local tradition, marking the start of the festive season with music that spans Christmas classics, big band hits, and more.
Last year, the event was a resounding success, playing to a full house, with many audience members having attended since its inception. Local dignitaries, including the Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex and The High Sheriffs of East and West Sussex, were among the attendees, supporting SSAFA’s mission to provide essential assistance to members of the Armed Forces, veterans, and their families.
Funds raised from this event will support the vital work of SSAFA’s Sussex branches, helping those who have served or are currently serving in the military, as well as their families, during times of hardship.
