The Veterans’ Foundation has awarded a grant of £43,321 towards the salary cost of a Veterans Families Adviser at Suffolk Family Carers.
The funding will help the charity to continue to offer for the next two years an information, advice, guidance and emotional support service to UK veterans and ex-servicemen and women, who are in caring situations in Suffolk.
This latest grant brings the total awarded to Suffolk Family Carers to £135,000 from The Veterans’ Foundation, the leading military charity whose purpose is to improve the lives of all within the armed forces community who need it.
Sarah Potter, Mental Health & Wellbeing Service Manager at Suffolk Family Carers, said:
“This grant award will allow us to continue to deliver our project working with UK veterans and ex-service personnel in caring roles.
“Our project is unique in that it supports both those caring for and those being cared for by a UK veteran or ex-armed forces member. It’s about both those requiring care, as well as their caregivers.”
Much of the Suffolk charity’s work focusses on raising awareness, and helping inform about the rights, entitlements and services available to veterans, including those who completed National Service prior to its ending in 1950s.
