A Farewell Message to Caroline Paige MBE

It is with immense gratitude and deep admiration that the Trustees of Fighting with Pride, congratulate our remarkable Chief Executive, Caroline Paige MBE as she retires today.

Caroline’s unwavering dedication, passion, and leadership have transformed our charity and the lives of countless LGBT+ veterans. From her early contributions as a co-author in the anthology marking the 20th anniversary of the lifting of the ban, to her pioneering work in advocating for the rights and recognition of LGBT+ veterans, she has been a driving force in our mission.

Under her leadership, Fighting with Pride has grown into a beacon of hope, forging strong relationships within the Armed Forces, Westminster, Whitehall, and veteran support networks across the UK.  The launch of the Pride in Veterans Standard, which now boasts over 245 members, and the establishment of our award-winning community team are just some of her outstanding achievements.  Caroline’s presence at countless Pride events – marching thousands of miles –  has ensured that LGBT+ veterans are seen, heard, and embraced by the wider community.

Her contributions have been widely recognised, with an Honorary Doctorate from Middlesex University and a well-deserved appointment as a Member of the Order of the British Empire.  These accolades are a testament to the profound impact she has had on the lives of so many in the veterans’ community.

On behalf of the trustees, Ed Hall, Chair of Trustees, said,

“Whilst we are saddened to see Caroline step away from Fighting With Pride, we are incredibly proud of all that she has accomplished and grateful for the legacy she leaves behind.  Her vision, determination, and compassion will continue to inspire us as we carry forward the work she so passionately championed.  Our community team, our staff and supporters, and our trustees, as well as everyone in the veterans’ community, wish Caroline all the best for the future.”
