Chicksands (former RAF base and still home of the army’s Intelligence Corps) is now the Defence Intelligence Training Group (DITG) – part of the tri-service Strategic Command.
Following initial contact in 2023, the numerous challenges have eventually been overcome thanks to the combined efforts of Chicksands and CESSAC staff. This has included a significant refurbishment of the café area, with: the catering equipment mainly purchased by CESSAC; the coffee machine paid for by the Army Central Fund; decoration and soft furnishings from the RAF LIG fund; while the new furniture belongs to DITG.
CESSAC started an initial service on 26 June and a formal ceremony was held on 10 July (picture below). There has been a clear enthusiasm from the average 2,500 in the camp on any given day, including from the occupants of the 250 Family quarters. CESSAC is proud to be able to play its part in supporting the welfare of service personnel and their families.
