We are seeking a full time Head of Communications, on an initial two year fixed term contract for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the Army’s National Charity.
About the role
We are seeking a committed and innovative senior level professional to lead our Marketing & Communications team, guiding the team members in developing their respective programmes and overseeing their professional development. The Head of Communications is a Senior Management Board member whose primary role is to ensure that the work of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is promoted in a positive, balanced and well informed way, and that the Charity’s excellent reputation is protected and enhanced. The successful candidate will take strategic leadership of all the Charity’s marketing and communications, advising internal and key external stakeholders on the ways in which marketing and communications can help deliver the Charity’s objectives. The post holder will be a champion of the Charity’s ‘Digital First’ strategy.
Requirements
To carry out this role successfully, you will have experience in:
- Developing and implementing marketing & communications/media/information operations strategies/campaigns
- Working with national, broadcast, on-line, trade and consumer media – with strong media contacts
- Managing relationships with external agencies
- Having a well-developed understanding of social media and how to harness its effectiveness
and personal characteristics that include:
- Strong organisational skills
- Excellent verbal and written skills (evidence of written work required at interview)
- Collaborative working and leadership skills
- A creative, strategic approach with a flair for seeking out and leveraging opportunities
- An understanding, acceptance and empathy with the principles and values of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and those in the British Army community and military charities that we support
