On Friday 20th October a spicy fundraiser will be taking place from 12 noon at Durham based charity Finchale’s headquarters in Pity Me, to raise money for soldiers and veterans in need of assistance across the region.
For the second year running organisers from Finchale are extending a ‘hot’ invitation to diners to join them for a bit of fun and a relaxed opportunity to enjoy some fantastic food whilst making a difference. All proceeds from the event will go to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the National Charity of the British Army providing support to soldiers, veterans and their families.
Andy Wildish, Veterans Services and Operations Manager at Finchale said:
“We’re appealing for individuals and businesses to dig deep for our Big Curry fundraising event with the added benefit of helping soldiers, veterans and their families from our community. We are hoping to raise as much money as we possibly can for this important charity and we’re looking forward to seeing lots of people coming along on the day.
Finchale have worked with the support of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity over the past 4 years providing tailored support to veterans from the North East of England to enable them to move from social exclusion into sustained employment and we’re proud to be hosting a second Big Curry Event as a way of saying thank you whilst supporting the work they do to provide funding and support for Army veterans.”
On the day there will be a range of curries and accompaniments all freshly prepared by The Kitchen, onsite at Finchale. Amongst other things diners will be offered an opportunity to take part in a game of chilli cookie roulette. There will also be a raffle to raise more funds.
Booking for the fundraising event is essential. To reserve a place, find out more, or to simply make a donation if you can’t make it, please call Chris Lloyd on 0191 386 2634 or email chris.lloyd@finchale.org

ABF The Soldiers’ Charity
ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is the National Charity of the British Army. We give a lifetime of support to soldiers, veterans and their immediate families, in times of need.
We make grants to individuals through their Regiments and Corps and support a wide range of specialist charities that sustain the British Army ‘family’, both at home and around the world. We take pride in being responsive, making a difference at a critical point in peoples’ lives. We have been doing this since 1944, working with veterans of every conflict, and we envisage continuing doing so for the ‘long haul’ – supporting all future generations of our soldiers and their immediate families.
Each year, we support more than 5,000 individuals and give grants to around 100 organisations which deliver support on our collective behalf.
