Our charity has awarded the Army Widows’ Association a £24,000 grant. This will go towards supporting their AGM Respite Weekends and continuing the excellent work they do. The Army Widows’ Association was formed in 2004 and offers comfort, support, and friendship to the widows and widowers of service men and women.
All the members of the Army Widows’ Association have lost their husbands, wives, or partners, in varying circumstances, and are given support and help in whichever terms they need. The Association is run by its members and operates completely independently, whilst working closely with the MOD and Army Welfare Policy Branch.
This years’ Army Widows’ Association AGM took place in Edinburgh, and was as ever extremely well attended with widows travelling from all over the country. The members had a wonderful weekend which included talks about dealing with grief, an audit of charitable objectives, a presentation from Marks and Spencer and importantly, they were joined by a team from the Veterans Welfare Service to provide, advice, and assist as necessary. A resounding success, the members left with many new friendships and strengthened old ones.
