Fergus Williams, CEO of leading military charity, Walking With The Wounded (‘WWTW’), has signed up to take on WWTW’s Battlefield Cycle event to mark Armed Forces Day which takes place on 25 June 2022.
The charity’s inaugural event will see a team of riders cycle approximately 80 miles a day across 5 days, leaving from Amsterdam and cycling to Paris. The route will take the riders through some of the battlefields of the Great War, where they will be accompanied by a military historian. They will cover Ypres and Amiens on the Somme, where some of the fiercest fighting of the war took place and ride into Paris on Armed Forces Day 2022.
Fergus Williams, CEO of WWTW, commented,
“As a keen cyclist, I am looking forward to taking on WWTW’s Battlefield cycle. It is a brilliant opportunity to use peddle-power to raise money and show support to the people who have served our country.”
WWTW’s Battlefield Cycle will be led by White Rock Events, who have combined over 50 years of experience in organising charity cycle rides and cycle tours. Those who sign up for the event are required to raise a minimum of £2,000.
James Davis, WWTW Events Manager, added,
“This is an exciting new event for WWTW and one which presents our supporters the opportunity to put the peddle to the metal and raise vital funds to support veterans and their families, whilst learning about some of the most famous battlefields in Europe.”
The deadline to sign-up is 31 March 2022.
