The Board of Trustees of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity is delighted to announce the appointment of Andrew Jameson OBE as the new Chief Executive.
Andrew joins the charity after retiring from the Royal Navy in 2017, and since then has worked in the City at law firms, most recently as the HR Director at Harbottle & Lewis, and also as the Clerk to the Governors at Wellington College.
Andrew has been connected to the Charity since its founding; he was a co-founding Serving trustee in 2007 and remained in this role until 2016. In 2019, he returned to the Board as a Veteran trustee, before taking up the post of Vice Chair in 2021. He recently retired from the Board to take up the post as CEO in May 2023.
During his naval career, he served in submarines and surface ships as a logistics officer, as well as qualifying as a barrister. As a more senior officer, he served ashore in a variety of posts including Head of Naval Legal Services and Commander of the Maritime Reserves.
Brian Gilvary, Chair of the RNRMC Board, said:
“The Board is delighted that Andrew will be joining us to continue to take forward the strategy the Board has set for the charity. Andrew brings a deep understanding of our beneficiaries, great understanding of our Charity and the challenges it faces, and the enthusiasm and leadership to ensure continued success, working closely with all of our partner charities. The Board are really excited about continuing their work with Andrew in the years ahead albeit as CEO and not as a trustee.”
Commenting on his appointment, Andrew Jameson said:
“I have been part of the RNRMC from its earliest days and I am honoured and privileged to have been chosen as the Chief Executive. I am very pleased to be leading the Charity forward into the next stage of its evolution, supporting sailors and marines, wherever they may be and at whatever stage of life they find themselves. I really look forward to working with all the team at the Charity and with its colleagues in the military charity community.”
Andrew has formally assumed the role from Tuesday 2 May 2023.
