On Sunday 25 June, to celebrate Armed Forces Day and to recognise the hard work and dedication of all three Armed Forces, SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, organised the 4C’s event. The Cornwall Charity Cycle Challenge, which will run year on year, was launched by SSAFA Regional Fundraising Officer, Simon McNeill-Richie.
The event, which took place at Falmouth as the town hosted the national Armed Forces Day celebration, included a 62-mile (100km) road ride or the 27-mile (40km) off-road course.
Simon said:
“We had 30 riders in total, including our own John Bessell, SSAFA Cornwall vice-Chair, and a number of veterans, and local veteran’s charity representatives. They all returned having thoroughly enjoyed the event, full of praise for the design and organisation of the rides and promising to return next year with family and friends.”
SSAFA support veterans, service people, and their families in their times of need, and is run by a network of volunteers throughout the world.
