The Army Benevolent Fund is the Army’s national charity, supporting soldiers, veterans, and their immediate families in times of need.

We’re on the search for an ambitious self-starter looking to make their first steps in fundraising to join our Individual Giving and Philanthropy Team. This is a varied role which will give the right candidate the opportunity to broaden their CV and work across a variety of projects and income streams. The role is focused on supporting Trusts, Major Donors, Individual Giving, and Legacy fundraising and will help the team to identify prospects, nurture existing donors, build relationships with prospective funders, undertake administrative and financial tasks, and ultimately raise income.

This role is admin focused, however it is a varied position with the opportunity to get involved in lots of different parts of the charity, including high-profile events in unique locations.

  • See the difference your work is making through your close working relationship with our Grants and Welfare team, gaining insight into the experiences of our beneficiaries.

The role is an entry level position and would suit someone with relevant transferable skills – some experience of the charity sector would be a bonus. We will recruit based on attitude and potential, as well as direct experience. We are looking for an individual who has strong research skills, is highly organised with excellent attention to detail, a good team player with a collaborative approach, a confident and considerate communicator, and importantly someone who enjoys building relationships.

The starting salary is £27,000. After a probationary period of 6 months, the successful candidate will benefit from the Charity’s full range of employment benefits including an income protection scheme and an employer contribution pension. There will also be opportunities to participate in key Charity events and activities with a TOIL scheme in place.

This is a full-time post for 35 hours per week, on an initial two year fixed term contract, based at the Charity’s National Office in Victoria, London. The Charity currently operates a hybrid/flexi working pattern, with a minimum of two days in the office.
