25 and 26 May at The Sloop Inn, Scaynes Hill
The final arrangements are now in place for the Fundraising Festival to be held over the forthcoming bank holiday weekend at the Sloop Inn.
Gary Morris (The Sloop Landlord) said,
“We are really looking forward to hosting, once again, the Festival and repeating last year’s success where we raised over £2000 for the charity Building Heroes, which provides skills training and support into employment in the building trades for unemployed ex-service men and women.”
Pete Bradbury, Chair of the West Sussex based Building Heroes, said
“This fantastic charity has got 500 veterans and service leavers into work; please help us reach a 1000.”
The Beer Festival starts on Saturday 25 May and will feature up to 20 different real ales (locally and from around the UK), over the two day period. The Blues Festival, featuring six different bands plus a DJ (see details below), is on Sunday 26 May 2019 from 2pm to 10pm. (day before the Bank Holiday Monday). There will be a barbeque on the Sunday and the usual excellent restaurant facilities will continue to be available on both days.

Biographical details of the Bands/Artistes
Pete Bradbury Blues band
Pete Bradbury has been a guitarist for a long time and comes originally from Liverpool. He is based in Mid Sussex and has played in a variety of bands. This Blues band has been specially put together for the Sloop Festival and features some well-known local musicians including Paul Burris on keyboards and Mike Lavelle on sax. There will also be a guest appearance by Matt Roberts of Slight Return.
Paul Burris
Paul Burris is recognised as a top guitarist, keyboard player and vocalist and played as a soloist and with a variety of bands both in the UK and the USA.
Espresso Brothers
Dave Carey & James McGowan have been performing live for over 20 years. Initially, as an acoustic guitar & vocals duo. Experiments with drum machines led to Dave programming backing tracks on a Yamaha QY70 sequencer to achieve a full band, high fidelity sound. Adding their own acoustic & electric guitar, plus harmony vocal based twist to all time classic songs from the likes of David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, Gary Moore & the Rolling Stones
CrYsis
CrYsis, what CrYsis? -Not a mid-life one. Nor a video game. They’re a renowned, local rock band playing hits from the 60s to the noughties. Come and enjoy all those great songs that you’ve forgotten you love! The band’s captivating, high-energy performances transport audiences back in time as CrYsis blends musicianship, creativity and fun.
Formed four years ago by five guys who should have known better, CrYsis have been invited back to play at charity events, local festivals, social clubs and pubs. Audience members have described CrYsis performances as, “great songs combined with entertaining banter,” “upbeat music that make people of all ages want to sing along,” “high energy with a feel-good vibe,” and “lots good-natured fun.”
Quarter Down
Local to Hayward’s Heath, Quarter Down are a Jazz Manouche Duo playing their own music of the genre, as well as standards by the greats such as Django Reinhardt and then Rosenberg Trio
The Blanchflower Duo
Fraser Blanchflower is a solo artist who blends upbeat soul grooves with delicate and melodic R&B keys and vocals. The likes of Joey Dosik and Lawrence play a large part in his sound. Fraser released his debut EP ‘Im In’ in 2018 and is now playing live.
Sol Mead
Sol has been a DJ for over 50 years and still occasionally presents live vinyl shows. He is also a presenter of a regular Wednesday afternoon show on Mid Downs Radio (based at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath)
